Conditions of Aid Awards

Berry College Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Award with the most recent date supersedes any previous award notice.

Periodically throughout the year, Berry may evaluate a student’s eligibility for named scholarships which are awarded as recognition for your abilities and achievements.  These scholarships may replace current Berry College funds already in your award and may not increase your award total.

Changes in financial, marital or academic status; changes of academic program; change of residence (on campus to off campus); or failure to comply with program guidelines and regulations could result in a revision to or cancellation of your Financial Aid Award.

The total of grant and scholarship funds from all sources may not exceed direct education costs (i.e., tuition & technology/activity fee, room & board and books for residential students; or tuition & technology/activity fees and books for off-campus students).

Students receiving Berry Financial Aid funds are expected to enroll full-time (12 hours per semester for undergraduates or 9 hours per semester for graduates). Audit courses do not count toward full time hours. Financial Aid does not pay for audit courses.

Financial Aid recipients must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress and be in good academic standing with the college.  Students who change their enrollment status (full time to part time) or withdraw from the college may not meet the standards of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy and could forfeit future financial aid. Refer to the Berry College Catalog for the full policy or check with the Financial Aid Office BEFORE dropping a class.

Scholarships and grants which include the “@” sign require students to participate in the Berry Work Program.  Students on these scholarships are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Berry College reserves the right to release to the U. S. Department of Education and state agencies, scholarship donors, and college scholarship selection committees any information requested pertinent to this award (i.e. enrollment status, address, GPA, and financial need).  However, the college believes the application for and the receipt of financial aid is a confidential matter; information will not be released (other than to these offices/committees above) without the student’s written permission.

Federal and state awards are contingent upon fund appropriations and their receipt by the college.

PLEASE NOTE:

Financial aid is awarded on an academic year (Fall/Spring) basis.  Requests for summer aid must be made to the Financial Aid Office.  Students must re-file the FAFSA each year (after January 1) for the upcoming academic year.

Federal Perkins Loan and John T. Hall Loan recipients must sign a promissory note and complete Loan Entrance Counseling with the Berry College Business Office before receiving a loan disbursement. Students are also required to complete Exit Counseling before leaving the college.

In order for
Federal Stafford and/or PLUS loan funds to be credited against your charges you must complete the online process at berry.edu/aid/loans. Funds will not be credited until they have been received and continued eligibility has been verified.  Loan funds are typically received in two disbursements.

Students must notify the financial aid office of other financial assistance not listed on this Financial Aid Award.  The receipt of assistance from other sources may result in an adjustment to this offer.

For additional details on these regulations, please refer to the Berry College Catalog and/or the financial aid section of Berry College website at www.berry.edu/aid.
